Mars-Saturn: Repressed Anger

Mars in hard aspects to Saturn in a man's natal chart shows that he has repressed anger issues. Often, his desires are frustrated in some ways and this manifests as anger. Outwardly, he may appear calm and controlled but inwardly, he is seething with rage. This is a man who struggles throughout his life because he always finds that his efforts are often met with obstacles and resistance from others. He is always fighting, fighting a battle against the rest of the world. As a result of bitterness in his heart, he becomes a bit of a bully, constantly picking on others, needling them, criticising others or challenging them. They become very hard on themselves and others. They are noted for their ability to work very hard and slave around the clock patiently in order to produce work of the highest quality. They are cruel taskmasters.

As a child, the Mars-Saturn man suffered excessive punishment and discipline at the hands of a parental figure, most likely the father (in a woman's chart, it's usually her mother). Due to the cruelty he endured in the hands of his father, he will develop animosity towards authority figures throughout his entire life. He will go into conflict with bosses or managers or people in charge. He works better alone and is often gifted with great entrepreneurship and business skills. Because Saturn is constantly testing them, beating them up and putting obstacles in their path, some of them eventually gave up on life. I do feel with this position, one either grow overwhelmingly strong to overcome Saturn or they totally give up trying as Saturn is crushing their will to live. 

So how does the cruel taskmaster perform in bed? They might be met with sexual rejection, frustration or even sexual inhibition in the early part of their lives. They can't express what they want easily. They may be late bloomers. The effect is almost similar to a very young Capricorn - sexually repressed, nervous, insecure and getting their panties all twisted up in knots when it comes to expressing their sexuality. They have a fear of rejection when it comes to relationship, and a stronger need to be in control. This eventually leads them to become domineering in their relationships.

Mars-Pluto: Ruthless Love

Mars in hard aspect to Pluto is arguably the most hardcore of all when it comes to intimacy. They have a raw, animalistic drive towards coitus. They tend to overwhelm their partners and completely drain them in bed. Beware of getting involved with one unless you know your body can keep out with their level of energy. You ain't hardcore until you have experienced a Mars-Pluto. They are very, very demanding behind closed doors. Their attitude towards sex is also quite scary  - they need to experience it in all its extremities - plunging to the deepest level of hell with pain and rising to the highest level of heaven with ecstasy. Sex is their drug, their obsession, their catharsis.

However, these people are very secretive. They tend to do things quietly, pulling the strings behind the scene so that everything falls into place in such a subtle way that you'll never even suspect they are controlling everything. In fact, they are so private about their intimate world that you'll never know anything about them unless they tell you. They have an innate need for control. They do things a quiet, subtle way. These are traits acquired from childhood, as most of them grow up facing extreme situations - violent or abusive circumstances - and as such, they are well-equipped to deal with a lot of bullshit and adversity in life. In times of hardship, they rise to the occasion where others might fall.  

They are also capable of being quite ruthless when the situation needs it. Most books never mention this - but I observe Mars-Pluto as having outstanding leadership skills exactly because they are capable of being completely kind when necessary, and totally cruel when required. A good leader needs to be extremely compassionate and protective towards the weak, and absolutely merciless towards their enemies. In this sense, the Mars-Pluto excels in this area unlike other signs. People also tend to be instantly pulled towards their charisma or feel instant repulsion / disgust towards them. You will either love or hate them, no in between.

Mercury-Jupiter: Lack of Desire

Part of the reason I keep a blog is to discuss rare topics that are hardly-mentioned by other books and websites. And one of the least-understood topics in astrology is the lack of libido or low sex drive. While we definitely know that Mars aspect to Venus, Uranus and Pluto increases the libido of a man significantly, we have not talked about men who don't seem to be very excited by sex at all. What makes a man appear impotent? What causes a low sex drive in men?

Lack of libido can be seen from a tight Mercury conjunction Jupiter in a natal chart. A less than 5 degrees orb conjunction between these two planets indicates a man who is more interested in mental or spiritual activities than actual physical sex itself. He prefers scholarly pursuits to lusting after women. As a result, he doesn't actively seek out girlfriends or have interest in marriage. Yes, this is the original "herbivore man", a Japanese slang for passive men who sit around with little interest in women. Like all herbivore males, these folks are gentle, kind and non-assertive. They conceive of love as something philosophical, higher than flesh, and not at all erotic. 

This does not, however, means that the man does not have carnal desires at all. Rather, it means he has lower than average needs and does not act on them as frequently as other guys do. These are straight guys who don't chase women, hunters who don't hunt, fishermen who don't fish, predators who sit around waiting to be preyed. Gifted with higher-than-average intelligence, these men prefer to have a nice conversation over a cup of coffee or go to the nearest museum with the girl of his dreams, and not do the naughty. However, there are exceptions. The exception is if he has a strong Mars in his chart to mitigate this effect. Unless a man's Mars is very prominent in the chart, he will not be able to enjoy a normal sex drive with a Mercury-Jupiter conjunction.  

Mars-Venus: Passionate Love Affairs

Mars squaring or opposing Venus will create passionate, grand love affairs. These people love like there is no tomorrow, and make love like it's an epic Harlequin novel. They embark on whirlwind romance, erotic flings and sizzling hot affairs that can be so explosive in nature that it might not last long. The movie "Last Tango in Paris" (1972) pretty much capture the type of love that could be symbolized by this aspect. Mars-Venus aspects are notorious for increasing good looks and physical allure of the individual. There is a forthright and provocative energy projected by the man. He is a lover, first and foremost, and will always be a lover. 

Mars-Venus has bad timing, however. Their lovers can blow hot and cold, which gives an "on and off" quality to the relationship. When they are bursting with passion, their partners can be busy or uninterested. When their partners are ready to love them, they can be preoccupied or out of town. The bad timing can be very frustrating. Affairs may begin suddenly and end just as suddenly. 

Mars-Venus men may come on as too strong to certain people, who may be taken unprepared. He may come across as intense, although the other party is not keen. The relationship of such a man with his partner can be very volatile, full of lovebites and nailscraping against skin while he dodges frying pans and kitchen sinks. There can be heated arguments and violent accusations that may very well end up with a passionate session in bed. 

Mars-Neptune: Sexy But Confused

                                           

Mars afflicting Neptune produces an irresistibly sexy man (or woman). The individual is attractive and charismatic even without him knowing it. He will embody the masculine ideal that is imagined by all women. The keyword here is "imagine", for Neptune rules imaginations of all sorts. 10 pairs of eyes gazing at the Mars-Neptune man will imagine their fantasies all fulfilled by him, for the man is a very clever actor, adept at projecting your fantasies unto himself. He will instinctively know what you desire, and dress in a certain way or act in a certain manner that will appeal to your fantasy. They are so confused that they spend so much time thinking about what they really want in bed. The list goes on and on.

Because they are so confused and wishy-washy, they can be easily led into all sorts of nasty and kinky situations. They are gullible and easily deceived. Despite being so sexy, they have no idea what to do with their own sexiness. So they end up seducing people endlessly, without any intentions or even knowledge that they are doing it. This aspect is quite challenging for men, who will often feel sexual insecurities but try to hide it under a veneer of macho-ness. They pretend to be macho by hitting the gym and doing karate, hunting, fishing or other "manly" activities to cover up insecurities.

Mars-Uranus: Need for Speed

Mars in negative aspect to Uranus is an adrenaline junkie. It creates a need for crude sexual excitement. The libido is experienced like a surge of electricity - temporary blasts of erotic high which is very powerful then followed by a complete lack of desire. This aspect is most often seen in speed racers, extreme sports athletes and gym rats. Put simply, these guys have a need for speed. They need to experience the thrill of the chase, the high the adrenaline gives them every once in a while.

Mars-Uranus folks is the "anything goes" type at the "right time and right place." They really know how to have fun. These are the people you want to invite to parties. They can't stand dull monotonous routine.

Most textbooks observe that the Mars-Uranus men are gifted with precise technical skills that makes them great engineers - electronic engineers, mechanical engineers, software engineers, mechanics, architects, etc. His temper will also be lightning fast and violent, but subsides as quickly as his libido. 

Would I recommend this partner to anyone? The answer is "yes" if you're an outgoing sassy girl who knows how to rock the gym but the answer is "no" if you're the stay-at-home wifey type of girl who expects things to remain stable. Ultimately, there will be a right partner for every soul in this lifetime. The key is to have faith and continue searching for the one destined for you.

Venus-Moon: Virgin-Whore Dichotomy

A man with his Moon opposing Venus views women in an extreme polarity / binary. In his eyes, a woman is either a virgin or a whore, no in-between. Although he can only love a pure woman, he will only enjoy sex with a slut. While he knows he needs to marry an innocent virgin, he really wants a promiscuous hussy to rock his bed. Needless to say, this is a very difficult aspect to tackle for a man. He will always be confused between what he needs and wants, because he desires really bad women with no self-respect, but at the same time he can only love a chaste woman with high morality.

So how does a man solve this problem? How can he ever look at his wife with desire and stop thinking of sluts? There are basically 3 solutions to this dilemma: 

1. Marry a bride for procreation, but keep a mistress for recreation, 

2. Marry a complicated woman who embodies both characteristics of purity and kinkiness, 

3. Don't marry at all, remain a bachelor for life since marriage will never satisfy him carnally. 

Let me be honest and just say that most men choose option 1 and 3. There are very few who actually go for option 3 since they are not lucky enough to find a woman who can embody both goddess and succubus traits.

I do not need to tell you this can be an unfaithful aspect in a natal chart. Some extramarital affairs are caused by this Venus-Moon affliction in a man's chart. My advice to women is to be careful and think twice before considering such men for long-term relationships or marriage unless they are content being reduced to either Madonna or Whore. The man himself often does not realize the impossible expectations that he has about the opposite sex, making him inherently sexist.

Mars & Pluto in 7th - Violence in Marriage

Mars is a planet that you definitely do NOT want sitting in your 7th House. Known as a malefic planet in traditional astrology, Mars is a fiery, angry planet that radiates masculine energy. It is probably the most macho planet in the entire universe since Mars is named after the Roman God of War. Now you do not want the God of War sitting in your marriage house, trust me. Unless, of course, you like to fight. And you love arguments. And angry sex. That type of sex can be quite stimulating, after an entire day spent yelling at each other. Husbands can fully expect to dodge frying pans with this one. Wives can fully expect a very physical marriage. Couples will enjoy an energetic married life with passionate, rough sex, however, the drawback is the possibility of violence when taken to the extreme. 

In a Mars-dominated relationship, the couple will view each other as rivals or competitors. Marriage becomes a competition of egos to determine who wins or lose. They will try to outdo each other. Unfortunately, such a rivalry between spouses rarely ends on a good note. There will always be a bitter taste left in the mouth after the storm subsides. Couples make love and wage war with the same ferocity and vigour. One way to save a Mars marriage is to release the energy through sports. Couples who enjoy athletic and physically-demanding activities like hitchhiking, mountain climbing, scuba diving and bungee jumping can channel all those pent-up Mars energy into sports. Alternatively, they can try to keep a busy workaholic schedule so as to let out  their aggression via work.

It is extra bad for a woman to have Mars in 7th since it may curse her male partner to death. I have personally observed this to be true - several female clients with this have a dead husband via freak accidents.... Just be careful when Mars appears in the 7th of a lady.

Next, we have Pluto in the 7th House. This is another malefic planet in the Descendant whose effect is to create explosive rage. That's right. Rage. This rage comes from suppressed anger over the years. Couples tend to bury their unhappiness within them and pretend to go with the flow. Their unhappiness will be not be aired out in the open, instead, couples resort to power struggles and subtle manipulation behind closed doors. They use passive-aggressive tactics to convey their dissatisfaction towards each other, while maintaining a happy facade to the external world. Nobody outside their close circles may be able to guess all those crazy things going on between those two. 

As the ruler of volcanoes, Pluto symbolizes buried rage, like lava hiding in the belly of the earth. After years of suppression, the volcano may erupt and the hot, boiling lava may annihilate entire nations. The force of eruption can be very sudden, but devastating to the marriage. Like a timebomb ticking, this marriage is bidding its time. Love and hate exists side-by-side in a Plutonian marriage, and the couple love and hate each other with equal intensity. They can rise to the highest of heavens when happy, and sink to the lowest of hell when angered.

Pluto in the 7th also denotes a domineering partner. This can be either one - the husband or wife. The bottom line is it will always be about power and dominance. The couple will try to manipulate each other into surrendering and giving up power to the other. One partner will be very bullying, and the other will be submissive yet resentful deep within. It goes without saying that a lot of this can be prevented if both partners are honest and open about their feelings to each other. Honesty is always the best policy if you have Pluto in 7th. Don't let the rage accumulate to the point when it becomes a volcanic eruption. On the other hand, a BDSM or master-slave relationship may be able to provide a healthy outlet to release all the Plutonian energy.

Can sexual deviancy be seen from the natal chart? The short answer is yes. Astrology provides clues to evaluate a person's sexual behaviour and bedroom affairs. Mars and Venus are the key to predicting sexuality in the chart. The position and condition of both planets will reveal a lot about the individual's performance in the sack. Mars rules aggression, male sexuality and libido. When Mars is too strong in a chart, the native becomes too lecherous. Meanwhile, Venus rules attraction and female sexuality. Venus shows what we like in others - what we are drawn towards irresistably. However, Venus also rules seduction - how a woman seduces, her seduction style.

The 5th House & 8th House in a chart both rule sex. However, the 5th House rules happy recreational sex while the 8th rules a darker, more destructive type of sex. 8th House sex is the type that features BDSM, paedophilia, taboo, rape and childhood abuse. The 8th is often traumatic. That is why it is important when judging a natal chart to also see if the ruler of 5th & 8th house is afflicted...because they open up a whole can of worms.

Mars Opposing / Square Pluto

When Mars is in hard aspects to Pluto, the individual will have a violent urge towards sex. It is a powerful, fierce drive towards coitus, and borders on destruction if the libido is not satisfied. There is usually a raw and animalistic aspect to this person's lovemaking style. 

Mars Conjunct Jupiter 

When Mars aspects Jupiter, the person becomes a Duracell bunny. Besides having an inexhaustible supply of energy in bed, the male native who has this aspect is said to have a large, er...manhood. He will have a bigger than average size.

Mars Opposing / Square Venus

Is a famous playboy aspect. Someone who is attractive to the opposite sex but will never have a happy or lasting relationship. They often fight with their lovers. Fighting is part and parcel of their romances. If the relationship is too peaceful, they will create problems and arguments just to release their energy through fighting. Friction turns them on.

Mars Opposing / Square Uranus

Is into one night stands and exciting, stimulating albeit temporary relationships. They like anything fresh and new - yes, that includes partners. They bore easily with the same sex, and will want to explore different positions, styles, etc. They are very open to sexual experimentation. They might sleep with random partners just for the heck of it.

Mars Opposing / Square Neptune

Is extremely seducible and vulnerable to being seduced. These are the types to get date-raped, drugged or just plain drunk when they get lured into bed by seedy characters. They get victimized easily and put themselves into dangerous and unwise situations.

Is somebody who needs to have sex multiple times on a daily basis. Scorpio is the sign of extremity and obsession. The native will overdo it, perhaps to the point where they may ruin their partner's health.

A sign of loose morals or immorality. When Venus is in hard aspects to Pluto, the native is attracted to everything forbidden and taboo. Women with this aspects tend to dig the idea of prostitution, nightclubbing, stripdancing, etc. They misuse and abuse their sexuality because they gain a sense of power from it. Men with this aspects are attracted to loose and immoral women - prostitutes, for example. 

Venus Opposing / Square Uranus

Likes the idea of one night stands, random sex and exciting experiments. Tends to have unusual partners. This one, however, prefers long-distance relationships. Love affairs do not last long.

Venus Opposing / Square Neptune

Will never be happy or satisfied by sex. There is always something missing - always not perfect. They longed for ideal sex - but they will never achieve it. Their unattainable fantasies will eventually lead to boredom and frustration with their partners. Nothing is ever good enough for them in bed. Eventually, they will start turning to alcohol or porn or illicit sex.

A Crowded 5th House

The 5th is the house of love affairs thus  many planets clustering in this house indicates multiple lovers and an enjoyment of recreational sex. Usually 3 or more planets in this house suggests promiscuity. The worst is if Jupiter, Pluto or Mars is in this house.

A Crowded 8th House

The 8th is the house of taboo sex. The things that go in here are pretty perverted. Yes, if many planets cluster here, this is someone with deviant tastes. More than 2 planets will indicate deviancy of some form. Jupiter or Mars here will mean multiple partners, but Pluto here can show child abuse, rape, incest, or some other forms of traumatic experiences. 

  

The Ascendant, The Self and Love

The Ascendant is the mask that you wear and show to the outside world. It is a portrayal or representation of yourself that others see around you. The Ascendant is the image of yourself that you project to the external world.  It is everything from the way you walk, talk, laugh, eat, sit, breathe, etc. However, the significance of the Ascendant goes beyond that of a mere mask. The Ascendant rules your physical self. It is literally your body. A short or tall, fat or thin person can be seen from their Ascendant and planetary aspects to it. In short, it is your bodily rhythm, breathing pattern, skin temperature, etc. Because the Ascendant is your physical body, it is extremely powerful in medical astrology. Sickness or health can be diagnosed from aspects afflicting the ruler of the Ascendant. 

The Ascendant (AC) begins at the cusp of the First House in your natal chart. It is also called the Rising Sign. Since it is a material manifestation of yourself, it represents your first contact with the world as a baby. When a newborn baby first takes a breath outside his mother's womb, the AC energies are absorbed by the child's body. The AC governs your looks, habits, self-expressions, etc. This is a natural process, and a person will express himself in such a way that matches his AC sign without realizing that they are doing it. Most people are not aware of their AC. As such, the give off wrong messages to the outside world. For example, a woman with Aries AC may come off as a tough, aggressive tomboy to strangers she meet. However, only her close friends and relatives will know that she is in fact, a soft lady at heart (Moon in Pisces) and a talented artist (Sun in Taurus). The AC mask, in short, creates a protective shell which often misrepresents the individual to the rest of society. 

Another notorious aspect of the AC is that it governs sexual attraction. Surprised? Sexuality, after all, is something very physical and has to do with your body. The AC is the strongest factor determining attraction, instant chemistry or love at first sight since it gravitates towards individuals that matches the biological rhythms of your body. However, I must say this is a purely sexual and superficial aspect of love. Although the AC controls the "animal" attraction, it is the Moon, ultimately, that determines compatibility in a couple.  

Ascendant in Fire 

The AC in fire signs (Aries, Leo, Sag) have an active, energetic and extroverted image. They are instantly attracted to fiery type of partners. The example above shows a Leo AC woman who goes for the active, "showy", sporty type of man who probably likes children and animals. Alternatively, a Leo AC may also go after rich partners. The whole idea is to get a partner that she can be proud of so she can shine in his glory. If your partner's Venus falls into your First House, you can call it a love-at-first-sight scenario. The AC in air signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) are very talkative dammit. They have a friendly image, and are seen as sociable diplomats. They get invited to parties all the time. They can be attracted to witty, intellectual partners. The above example shows a Gemini AC woman who goes after charming men who can engage her with funny conversations at parties. She falls for guys who are fast in words, and enjoy traveling like her. In short, air AC folks admire intellect and wit in a partner.        

Moon-Pluto: Dominatrix Wife

Moon-Pluto people are kinky and pervy, first and foremost. They have an insatiable hunger within them that cannot be satisfied. Men and women with Moon-Pluto (similar to Scorpio Moon) in their chart has an obsessive need for sex. All they crave is sex, sex and sex. Once you get them to bed, there's this ferocious beast waiting to rip you apart. They are also very seductive. I believe "magnetic" and "alluring" are the words to describe them.  

Moon-Pluto kids experience their mom as an overwhelmingly powerful figure in their life. Mother was not just powerful and in control, she looms above the child in a bigger-than-life way. She totally dominated their lives as kids. Childhood trauma is very common with Scorpio Moon. Something must have happened. Mother may not be involved. But they blamed mom, nevertheless. 

Like their watery cousin Pieces, the Scorpio Moon people have problems with boundaries. They totally enjoy invading the boundaries of other people, running them down and loves this sense of power and dominance over others. As a child, they might have felt helpless at some point. It's revenge time, baby. Unlike Pieces Moon who is a wimp, Scorpio Moon don't cry. They don't get mad. They get even.

Which brings me to my next point. Scorpio Moon loves power. They associate sex with power. Gaining power through sex may not be as negative as it sounds. Through sex, they are transformed. Like the Phoenix rising up from the ashes, Scorpio Moon folks are capable of extreme transformation - flying straight to heaven or going straight to hell. Moon-Mars: Sexually-frustrated Man

Moon square Mars in a man's chart often indicates sexual frustration of some kind. Ancient astrology texts describe these men as "irritable" and "angry." But why irritable? To understand the male psychology, we need to know that moody men are the product of either hunger or sexual starvation. In this case, his sexual needs (Mars) is not being satisfied by his wife (Moon). That's right, he ain't getting any. Or he ain't getting enough. Maybe he's not getting the type he wants either, which is rough (Mars). The wife is sexually-incompatible with him. As a result, the man gets into frequent fights and arguments with his spouse. He blames her for rejecting or suppressing his manliness, and may even feel like a failure of a man. His big appetite may only be satisfied outside marriage, hence this is a common placement for playboys and unfaithful Casanovas.

Stephen Arroyo claims that Moon square Mars men feel that they cannot assert their masculinity (Mars) towards their wives (Moon), and that the wife has sabotaged their male ego. This is always a dangerous position for men, as there is a potential of revenge towards the wife, either in the form of violence, quarrels or fights. The risk of extramarital affairs is also increased.

The root of this problem comes from childhood, specifically, from the mother (Moon). He may have perceived his mother as having rejected or ignored his neediness as a child. She could be the aggressive type of mom, the action-oriented mom who did not nurture him emotionally. He may get into frequent fights with her. Some male clients with this placement even claim that their mom was violent. The seeds of anger towards women have been sown in boyhood, which blossoms into marital discord in adulthood.
