Venus in 10th House: The Geisha

Individuals with Venus in 10th has a geisha-like attitude towards career. They need a job that allows them to express artistic creativity. They want to be seen as "artistic" and "creative" in their work. They want to convey a sense of beauty to the world. They need to win public approval for being avant-garde. They want to produce art. These folks flaunt their artistic flare to win praises and approval. Yes, they need to be recognized as "creative" and will do anything to be acknowledged as artistic geniuses. They have a reputation for being charming towards colleagues, and enjoy a good rapport with co-workers. Like a courtesan, they are diplomatic and socially pleasing at work.

This is actually the least romantic position for Venus. Love is not very important for individuals with Venus in Midheaven. They may treat love as something quite nonchalant, formal and matter-of-fact. They can have a "business-like" attitude towards romance. The effect is almost similar to Venus in Capricorn. It indicates career is the love of the life, and this person will be married to his career. Hence, relationships are less important than career. Although Venus being in the 10th will guarantee some form of popularity among co-workers, it is also a very materialistic position. This is something most books never mention. The individual will be sexually attracted to his colleagues, and may choose to marry his boss / superior / higher up / someone richer / older / more successful, etc, etc.

The 10th House: Unlock Your Potential

House number 10 (also known as the Midheaven) is the highest point of your natal chart, and represents the unleashed potential of an individual. Being the loftiest and most elevated point in your chart, it reveals the ability of the person to achieve ultimate success in his career. The 10th House shows among others, your career, vocation, public reputation and achievements in life. What type of career would suit your best? Would you achieve a high status in society? How would the world remember you? These are the questions that can only be answered by the 10th House.

A career should not be confused with a job. Unlike a 9-5 day job, the 10th House shows your true talent and accomplishments. For eg, a chemical engineer by profession may be very good in cooking and dreams of becoming a chef. He ultimately quits his job to open up a sushi restaurant. Thus we see how your job may not necessarily become your career in the end. Your career contributes to how the society and world would remember you. Hence, the 10th is also called the house of reputation. Having a well-aspected Midheaven is certainly an advantage.

The Midheaven is ruled by Saturn. the planet of business and hard work. Saturn rules the sign of Capricorn, the mountain goat, and so the 10th house is all serious business. Now you understand why Capricorns are so disciplined and hardworking. The motto of Capricorn is "No pain, no gain" as the mountain goat slowly climbs to higher peaks with patience. It goes without saying that Capricorns are intensely ambitious and they can join the rat race, stay in the rat race, persevere till the end and win the rat race. Their stamina is amazing, as they are often rewarded with authority and wealth.

The 10th house also corresponds to father figures and male authority figures. In a man's chart, it usually describes his mother, while in a woman's chart, it describes her father. Either way round, it shows the characteristics of the parent with greater authority in the child's life. In love astrology, a woman is usually sexually attracted to the type of man that expresses the attributes of her Midheaven (father figure), as she aspires towards a husband or mate that can fit the shoes of the male authority figure in her life. This sexual attraction is not limited to only women. From my experience, I have also observed many men being attracted to the female partner that fulfills (either partially or fully) the criteria of his Midheaven. As the 10th house is linked to ambition, I assume this attraction is based on feelings of admiration and respect for the qualities expressed by the potential partner that fits the career goals of the individual.

Doctor in the House: Malaysia's Father of Modernization

The next outstanding global leader we will look at is Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, the Prime Minister of Malaysia from the year 1981-2003. A brilliant economic strategist, gutsy leader and visionary thinker, Dr. M is celebrated for transforming Malaysia into a booming economy in the 90's, modernizing the nation and making daring reforms which put Malaysia on the world map. We shall now attempt to analyze his natal chart. Although no official birth time is found. the interplay of planets, aspects and signs is more than enough to construct a picture of the longest-reigning Malaysian premier.

First off, he has a "bucket"-shaped chart. The cluster of planets at the bottom half are held by the "bucket handle", Jupiter. As the most dominant planet in the chart, Jupiter has the power to siphon and direct the energy of the other planets in the life of Dr. M. It controls the major events in his life. Jupiter is the luckiest planet in the cosmos, blessing its natives with great optimism, success and wealth. Jupiter is the cosmic Santa Claus, it expands whatever it touches beyond its limits. The keywords for Jupiter are "big" and "lucky." Everything needs to be done in a big way, growing in size, breaking its limits, going further and further, and becoming successful beyond your wildest dreams. It is by nature, a very generous and protective planet.

We can immediately see how Jupiter has impacted the life of Dr. M, blessing him with the ability to excel in his chosen field, conferring him a good education and upbringing (Jupiter is the patron of education), and giving him a "lucky break" into politics, protecting him in times of political crisis and expanding his career in politics beyond imaginable limits. Furthermore, we see that Jupiter is the only planet in an earth sign, Capricorn. Earth is the element of organization and business. This earthy sign endows Dr. M with good management skills and business acumen. It allows him to manage the economy of Malaysia systematically and efficiently, like a Capricorn CEO. He bolstered national income and expanded the heavy industries (automobile, petrol and gas, etc). During the 1998 Asian financial crisis, he pulled the country out of recession much quicker than other neighbouring ASEAN countries. He is a genius in terms of finances and material assets. He delivers a Midas touch to anything that has material form and structure. He set up to construct world-class infrastructures, buildings and architectural wonders (Petronas Twin Towers, Sepang F1 Circuit, KLIA, etc).

Next, we see the Sun conjuncts Pluto, and making a sharp opposition to Jupiter. Now, we know that Pluto is the planet of extremes - all or nothing at all. It causes the individual to do everything in a very forceful, intense manner. Dr. M is a natural daredevil, a trailblazer, a leader who steamrolls everything in his path, bulldozing and crushing all obstacles in the way. Grass does not grow under his feet! Pluto also gives the "firepower" to mow down opponents and enemies, being the most fearsome planet in the cosmos. There is also a very strong charisma in a Plutonian person, pulling and sucking others in like a vortex. They make very charismatic leaders, building a cult-like persona and larger-than-life icon.

One very striking feature of the chart is how 4 planets (Mars, Venus, Mercury & Neptune) are clustered in Leo, a fire sign. Leo the lion is perhaps the most dramatic sign of all. Like a King, he enjoys doing everything in a "grand" and "flashy" way, and receiving public acknowledgement. Leo prefers to be in the spotlight in whatever he says or does. Similarly, Dr. M has never failed to create headlines in the media for saying things. He has a very flamboyant personality which generates a lot of hype and attention from the public. He is a rock star.

Lastly, we see a grand water trine, a blue triangle formed by joining the signs of Pisces, Cancer & Scorpio. Like Lee Kuan Yew, his Singaporean counterpart, you will notice the grand trine popping up again and again in the charts of famous world leaders throughout history. A grand trine is considered the luckiest aspect in astrology, and it bestows gifts of rare instincts, vision and insight into the charts of prominent statesmen. It is written in the stars that Dr M is destined to be a leader of a nation.

Of Gods and Planets: Days of the Week.

One little known aspect in astrology is the rulership of planets over the days of the week. Each planet is identified with a god, and each god in return, controls a particular day of the week. There are 7 days in a week, and the day of your birth will also influence your character. I can't help noticing that different religions venerate a certain day of the week. The Muslims, for example, venerate Fridays, while the Christians worship on Sundays. The Jews treat Saturdays as their Sabbath, while the Hindus set aside Thursdays as their holy day. What is the story behind these days?

SUNDAY

Sunday is named after the Sun. The ancients considered Horus-Ra, Helios or Sol as the solar god. Romans called the Sun as "Sol Invictus", or the Invincible Sun. He is said to be the King, and presided over royalty. The Augustus emperor was depicted as wearing a crown radiating with sunlight. Sol was often compared to Jesus Christ. Early Christians borrowed some pagan customs to include Sunday as the day Christ rose from his grave and victory over darkness. Jesus is often called the "King of Kings." Coincidentally, the birthday of Sol falls on 25th December, which is also the nativity of Jesus. Today, Christians go to church on Sundays.

If you are born on Sunday, congratulations! You can rise high in society and command attention from others. You have a need to "shine" in the limelight. Cheerful and charismatic, you are the life of the party. You are blessed with outstanding leadership qualities. You do well in positions of authority. However, you do not like to share. All the glory must belong to you. Therefore, some might view you as selfish. Sunday is sacred to the zodiac Leo (one of Jesus's title is the "Lion of Judah").

Sundays are good for grand celebrations of festivals.

MONDAY

Monday is named after the Moon. The Hindus called it "Somavara" or "Chandravara" after their moon gods Soma and Chandra. Romans believe the goddess Artemis / Diana rules the Moon, and it is an especially feminine day. Monday is associated with mothers, and the zodiac Cancer. It is an emotional day associated with mood swings and depression. Women born on Mondays are said to make good mothers and wives - homemakers.

If you are born on Monday, you are emotional and nurturing to others. You can protect younger people and your juniors look up to you. You love food, and you spend time eating or feeding others. Thus, the tendency to be fleshy and put on weight. However, you can be moody and susceptible to depression. You react emotionally to issues. If you are a woman, extra bonus points for beauty and marriageability. Legend has it that fair women are born on Monday.

Mondays are good for family gatherings, weddings or children activities. Good day to stay at home.

TUESDAY

Tuesday is ruled by Mars, god of war. The Koreans and Japanese referred to Tuesday as "fire day" and is symbolised by the colour red. This is a day of action, combat, and victory. Historically, more military campaigns and revolutions have taken place on Tuesdays than any other day. Intensely fierce by nature, the day is associated with Aries and Scorpio. A child born on Tuesday is said to be active and full of action. He or she always has a plan of attack in any situation. They are problem-solvers and can be good generals, leading an army. Unfortunately, some cultures like the Greeks and Spanish considered Tuesday to be unlucky (due to its connection to violence).

If you are born on Tuesday, you are a person of action. You are decisive, fast and can solve problems. You believe action speaks louder than words and dislike slow or indecisive people. You can be hot-tempered. As a fighter, you do not give up easily. You will stand and face your problems headlong, and "take the bull by the horns", so to say.  Courage is one of your strengths. You are very reliable in times of need.

Tuesdays are good for sports and intense activities. Good day to be busy!

WEDNESDAY

Wednesday is known as "Woden's Day." It refers to the Anglo-Saxon god, Woden. He is a deity of ecstasy, fury and poetry. The Germans considered him to be the leader of the Wild Hunt. Imported to Roman culture, he became identified as Mercury, god of learning and traveling. He presides over the mind and mental aptitude. Children born on Wednesday are said to be intelligent, quick-thinking but somewhat mentally unstable (due to Woden's connection to madness). Intellectual by nature, these kids are curious and have a thirst for knowledge. They will have Gemini and Virgo traits - eloquent, witty and good with words. They are articulate, but flirtatious.

If you are born on Wednesday, you have the gift of gab. Words and writings are your forte. Intelligent and cunning, you learn quickly. You will succeed in any intellectual pursuit. You enjoy challenging your mind, and learning new things. This makes you a good scholar. Due to your powers of persuasion, you can excel as a businessman, salesman or investor. Some of you enjoy traveling a lot and commercial transaction is highly favoured by Mercury.

Wednesdays are good for exams, traveling or commerce. A good day for thinking.

THURSDAY

Thursday is called "Thor's Day", after the Norse god of lightning. Romans referred to him as Jupiter, chief of the gods. He is the protector of law and morality. He is patron of governments, temples, and priests. As giver of law, he guards the sovereignty of the state and the Roman's right to rule. He is pretty much the good guy, in a fatherly kind of way. Thursday is generally considered to be an auspicious day. Muslims regard it as holy while Christians use it to celebrate Thanksgiving Day. The Hindus dedicate Thurday to Lord Brihaspati (Jupiter), the guru of gods. The sign Sagittarius and Pisces is identified with Thursday.

If you are born on Thursday, you are said to be lucky. You are jovial, positive and upbeat. You are generous to others. One prominent thing that stuck out is your love for traveling and adventure. You enjoy learning foreign cultures and can be well-traveled. You do well in universities and places of worship. Since Jupiter is a law-giver, you may be religious, idealistic and uphold the law / morality. You are principled.

Thursdays are good for stately events, government functions and signing contracts.

FRIDAY

Friday belongs to Freya, Norse god of love. She is the goddess Venus or Aphrodite in Rome. She is patron of the sign Taurus and Libra. Besides sex, she also rules money and material pleasures. There is a darker aspect to Venus that is rarely discussed. She is identified as Lucifer, the morning star (a.k.a the Devil in the Bible) and is therefore considered as having demonic qualities. The Hindus regard Venus as the guru of the ashuras, or demon race. Christians regard Friday the Thirteenth as unlucky since Jesus was crucified on a Friday. However, this differs across cultures. Muslims venerate Friday as a holy day of worship and prayers.

If you are born on Friday, you are sexy. You are loving to others, and there is an unmistakably sensual side to you. Graceful and attractive, you tend to enjoy the material pleasures of life. Sex tends be very important to you, as is money. You appreciate fine beauty and luxury in life. You indulge in food, sleep, beauty rituals, massages or simply pampering your senses. There is an artistic side to you, and you make a talented musician, poet or artist. The cosmetics / beauty industry are highly favorable professions.

Fridays are great for weddings, artistic or pleasure activities. Good day to relax.

SATURDAY

Saturday belongs to Saturn, also known as Satan. He is Lord of Karma, in charge of meting out justice and karmic punishment (if you incur bad karma). The Romans regard Saturn as the deity of time, who controls the passage of time. Thus he is depicted as a wise old man. He teaches you a lesson in life by giving you obstacles, trials and tribulations. He is one tough badass demon overlord, but you gotta love him! Without Saturn, you will never grow wiser. Without Saturn, you will never learn to take responsibilities. Saturn is seriousness, maturity and hard work. He rules the sign Capricorn and Aquarius. The Jews venerate Saturday as their holy day of rest.

If you are born on Saturday, you are a mature and serious kid. You are wise beyond your age. You take on lots of responsibilities since young, and thus is a very reliable person. You are practical, loyal and hardworking. You don't believe in shortcuts. You can excel in business and financial dealings. Saturn rewards hard work with material wealth. Thus business and financial transactions are highly favourable jobs. You can grow rich beyond your imagination!

Saturdays are great for hard work and financial dealings. Perfect for business.

Moon-Saturn: CEO Wife

Moon in harsh aspects to Saturn will give you that CEO wife you have been looking for to manage your life. This earthy Moon wants control and authority, first and foremost. In a man's chart, he desires a woman who is competent, efficient, and can "get the job done." The wife needs to have outstanding leadership skills to help run his life. She must be able to help him to achieve his ambitions. The Moon-Saturn man admires a professional woman who can benefit his career. She needs to be successful enough to boost his status in society.

The Capricorn Moon individual is goal-oriented. They have a need to rise in society and command respect from others. This is a famous "using" sign, as they are able to utilize people and resources around them to achieve their ambitions. They are careful and can control their emotions very well. They see emotions as weakness, and do not like over-sensitive or "soft" partners. Great leaders like Napoleon Bonaparte and George Washington have Capricorn Moons. This allowed them to command an army.

Astrologer Vivian Robson claimed that "many prominent politicians and businessmen owe their position and success...to their Capricorn wives." I find this to be accurate descriptions of Moon-Saturn people in general. This applies to both sexes, although it is more obvious in men, They seek out relationships for mutual benefits. Sometimes, they delay marriage and end up marrying late because they are careful. They tend to marry older partners who are materially well-off. All in all, the Capricorn Moon is a secret recipe for success.

Sex According to Capricorn

CAPRICORN, THE SEA GOAT (December 22 - January 20)

Ruler: Saturn

Element: Earth

Character: Dutiful, Responsible, Ambitious, Materialistic, Hardworking, Mature.

Energy: Medium

Libido: High

Sex style: Capricorns are cautious. They want control, no, they need control in sex. Therefore, the goat chooses his or her partner carefully. Although initially guarded, they will unleash their true colours in bed once their partners manage to win their trust. Capricorns have amazing stamina and can make love for hours and nights, only stopping to go to work. They are sensual beasts at heart and will reveal a hedonistic and wild side behind closed doors. Goats are, after all, the ancient sign of virility. But they are very private persons. To the outside world, they might appear serious and formal, but once behind closed doors….it’s game on! Do not be fooled by their seemingly cold look. They are pretty hardcore in bed. However, they tend to plan and organize their sexual encounters ahead, so as to leave nothing to chance. As mentioned above, they like control. This extends to fantasies of disciplining their partner in bed. The sitting sex position is quite popular with them, as it requires maximum grinding. Capricorns are grinders. They have a fetish for rubbing their organs. Some enjoy inflicting pain on others, and assume the role of dominatrix.

Sex fantasy: Dominatrix, Sadism, Master-slave, Sitting sex, Grinding, Paid sex.

Romance: They stick to traditional gender roles. Age gap is common, as Capricorns might prefer either much younger or older lovers. Some Capricorn women have father issues and are looking for a father figure in her romantic partner. Their lust for money and ambition, however, may see them going for partners who are useful, and can benefit them materially. In romance, they can be pretty business-minded for Capricorns love to plan ahead.  They might view love as a business transaction, or a quid pro quo bargain. Old-fashioned values are okay with them. They fall in love slowly, and gradually opens up to their partners once they are convinced they are in safe hands. When Capricorns are young, they might feel sexually-repressed. Once they grow older, they become more lecherous.

Marriage: Capricorns are born managers. They will manage their lives and their spouse’s live. Capricorn marriages are very lasting and durable. They tend to stick together, through thick and thin, not out of love but out of fear of material loss in the event of divorce. Property, money and status are the most important things to a Capricorn, and they will aspire for marriages that will allow them to climb the corporate ladder.  Capricorns are “users” and can be quite cold and rational about “using” their spouse. They are very objective-minded and clear-headed about what they want in a marriage, and will arrange for things to work.  Capricorn wives will try their best to ensure that their husbands achieve success. As a spouse and parent, they are responsible and reliable. A bit of a strict disciplinarian, they may set some rules in the household.
